We have a family member who has severe dementia. He also was into stocks for 50 years and saved every paper he ever had...we think! This thing is still working after many days of almost constant shredding! A couple times it shut itself off as it was overheated. This is a nice protection. This thing works! It is my first one. So, I really don't know how slow it is. I would get desperate and put many pages and all but onces it kept on .... One time, I had to pull out a couple papers...but really what did I expect!
