Quite - I used while my kids were sleeping in the next room. But not quite enough to use while watching TV.
I do not have to open junk mail. I can shred in the envelope and it does not get stuck.
Credit Card shredder works well. I have not tried it out on a CD.
It is very heavy but it has a pull out bin where the items shredded go. This makes it easy to empty. The bin could be a little more sturdy since the shredder is so heavy.
